Google testing their new interface for Gmail login page. The new interface looking very cool and pretty. The text box area is the main attractive thing is new interface of Gmail login page. The Sign In button is also turned similar to the New Google Search button with the shade of blue. Also they have replaced the Create New Account link to the upper right corner.

You can find the new interface by their new Preview link placed at the bottom of Gmail login page.

Very Good!
It was fine the way it was. Such changes are not user-requested but rather a result of an excess of money and “developers” sitting around with nothing to do but break familiarity and cause millions of people to have to “relearn” a “different” UI layout every 8 months.
Dec. 2011. They can’t even get the TAB order correct. With the current gmail login “design” you have to TAB PAST the “Sign in” button, checkmark “stay signed in” as desired, then BACK-TAB back to the “Sign in” button again. Asinine. The “Sign in” button should be LAST in the TAB order. They were told about this and it’s still wrong as of this date. They spend their time on making things “fancier” with just the right shade of baby-blue and won’t fix the 7 or 8 BASIC THINGS WRONG with gmail.
